Colonial Treasures in Central Mexico

Day 1 México City - Querétaro
After breakfast our driver will pick you up at the hotel and we start the tour towards Querétaro. After about 2,5 hrs we reach the historical centre of Querétaro. Here you´ll find idyllic Cafés and restaurants, fascinating Artesanía shops, Galleries und much more. Because of traffic calmed zones you can easily enjoy the atmosphere. Nearly all of the colonial buildings are restored and beautiful looking. On your Querétaro City Tour you will see the "Convento San Francisco", the "Museo Regional", the "Convento de la Cruz", the "Iglesia Santa Clara" and the "Casa de la Corregidora". Also the "Acueducto de Querétaro" is hardly to ignore. After Sunset the 30 m high aqueduct is illuminated and wonderful looking. The night you will spend in one of the beautiful colonial hotels in the quiet centre of Querétaro.

Day 2 Querétaro - San Miguel de Allende
After a delicious breakfast we will visit San Miguel de Allende a former railway station for silver mine trains. Locals and visitors love the pictorial colonial town. It´s also known as an artist town and the landmark is the imposing rose-colored church at the zocalo. After a short walk through the town you have time for lunch (not included) and also the afternoon is free to discover this romantic town and enjoy the particular atmosphere. The night you will stay in a beautiful colonial hotel in the centre of San Miguel de Allende.

Day 3 San Miguel - Dolores Hidalgo - Guanajuato
In the morning after breakfast we leave San Miguel de Allende and drive towards Guanajuato. On our way we have a stop in Dolores Hidalgo "The cradle of national freedom". On 16th of September in 1810 the country parson Miguel Hidalgo was making a speech against compression and injustice and with the "Grito de Dolores" (Scream from Dolores) he called up the Mexican people to fight against the Spanish rule. The war of independence started and after a long and Guanajuato bloody fight against the Spanish it ended in 24. August 1821. We will see the house of Hidalgo and the beautiful "Parroquia de Dolores" before we go on to Guanajuato.
You will be thrilled about the interesting and unique location of the town in the former riverbed of "Río Guanajuato". The underground main street is a complex system of tunnels and imposing to see. After a short city tour we will visit the "Pipila Monument" a monument to honour the hero from Guanajuato, and enjoy an impressing view over town. Later we bring you to your hotel. Accommodation.

Day 4 Guanajuato - Morelia
The morning is free and we recommend you to have a walk through the wonderful university town. You will see many worth seeing buildings with planted balconies, pictorial places and coloured painted house fronts. In the afternoon we go on to Morelia and you´ll have a short city tour through the land marked centre. You will see a lot of churches, palaces and convents and enjoy a rich cultural life with nice cafés, bars and few tourists. Accommodation in a beautiful colonial hotel.

Day 5 Morelia - Patzcuaro - Indígena Villages - Morelia
After breakfast we leave Morelia towards the lovely colonial city of Patzcuaro. After about 1 hour we arrive the romantic place with cobbled streets and tiled adobe buildings painted white and reddish-brown. After a short walk around and trip to Janitzio, an island in the lake (optional) we go on to Tzintzuntzan, a Tarasco village and former capital of the Tarasco Empire. As you head into town you?ll see ceramics, large stone carvings, straw goods and other artesanías for sale. Afterward we will bring you back to your hotel in Morelia.
Day 6 Morelia - Mexico City
After breakfast we bring you back to Mexico City. Today our colonial city tour ends and you take your flight back home or, if you are extending your stay, to the hotel of your choice.
